1.     Answer the following questions.

a)      How or in what situations can burning wood be used as a fuel?
b)      What are the harmful effects of using burning wood as a fuel?

2.     Read the given paragraph and answer the questions that follow.

Burning of wood has many uses but it also produces harmful gases ‘A’ & ‘B’. ‘A’ is produced during incomplete combustion and combines with haemoglobin in blood to make carboxy-haemoglobin. ‘B’ is produced when fuels are completely burnt and is absorbed by plants during day time.

a)     Identify ‘A’ and ‘B’.
b)    Why do plants absorb gas ‘B’?
c)     Which element is present in both A & B and is also responsible for life on Earth?
d)    Which of ‘A’ and ‘B’ is used as a fire extinguisher?
